Real progress, real impact:
My son's experience at CampWeaver was an unforgettableone. When I brought Allen and Josh home from overnight camp they beamed as they told me about their new friends and exciting experiences. A scholarship from the YMCA program, partnering with United Way of Greater Greensboro, allowed my children to experience joys of overnight camp that they would not have been able to experience otherwise.
Helping People Help Themselves
Our vision is that all people in Greater Greensboro have the opportunity to lead self-sufficient and dignified lives.
Our objectives for Helping People Help Themselves are to:
- Meet basic needs for food, clothing, or shelter
- Help people in difficult life situations, such as unemployment and family crisis
- Help those with disabilities or mental illness maximizing their potential
Real progress, real impact:
Bob and Jan were so excited to be new parents and provide the best of everything for their new baby. But, along with their bundle of job came mounting debt and medical bills. Finances became tight. They called United Way’s free 2-1-1 information service and were referred to Consumer Credit Counseling Services. Bob and Jan met with a consumer credit counselor who gave them budget training, credit counseling, advice and hope. They now have a stable financial footing to provide a bright future to their family.
Caring for Everyone's Health:

Donna was diagnosed with a life-threatening illness last year. She worried about how her young family would cope with the new challenges brought about by her illness. Donna was comforted by Kids Path, a specialized program of Hospice and Palliative Care Care of Greensboro, partnering with United Way, as her young son and daughter received counseling to cope with their mother’s illness.
