Evonik Stockhausen held a cookout fundraiser for their United Way Campaign at its Greensboro site on Wednesday, August 18 where nearly 100 employees, teachers, public officials, and friends attended.

Evonik employees cooked hot dogs and hamburgers for the group that included Greensboro’s Mayor Bill Knight, United Way’s Starlyn Crook, 18 teachers from Calvin Wiley Elementary School including Principal Dr. Shelia Gorham, 65 employees and others.

“The people of Greensboro and I appreciate the generous efforts of companies like Evonik Stockhausen,” said Greensboro Mayor Bill Knight. “Evonik continually gives back to the community through its United Way donations as well as its support of our educational institutions such as Wiley School. We need more giving companies such as Evonik to help residents during these difficult economic times.”

Dieter Bettinger, Greensboro site manager, noted Evonik Stockhausen employees strongly support the efforts of the United Way. Earlier this year, the site raised $1,460 in various events, which will be donated to United Way later this year.

“We are firmly committed to the residents of the Greensboro area and we are proud to support United Way’s exceptional efforts in our community,” Dieter added. “We encourage other businesses to join us and others in supporting the terrific work of the United Way. The United Way is an important safety net in Greensboro.”

The site cookout raised more than $630 during the one-hour event.
