As United Ways across the country recognize UPS for a record $1 Billion in Giving to Communities this week, our local UPS employees continue to build support for a strong employee campaign with United Way of Greater Greensboro.
The Greensboro UPS campaign kickoff was Thursday, July 15, 2010 and consisted of three rallies to drum up enthusiasm for the upcoming campaign. The rally was added to regular management meeting times and employees learned more about United Way of Greater Greensboro and the appreciation United Way and the community had for each employee’s gift. Speakers included United Way staff and partner agency representatives. UPS management also summarized UPS’s goals and expectations for the campaign.
Shoutout to Jeff York from Star Crook, Donor Relations Manager at UWGG. Jeff would also like to thank his UPS colleagues, Bill Hoffman, Jonathan Goodmon, Frank Farrar and Kaven Smith, for helping to make the rallies a great time with their coordination.
Representatives from UWGG member agencies as well Starlyn added to the excitement at the rallies. We passed out water, squeeze water bottles, doughnuts, balloons and fliers. Everyone was greeted as they came in to the building and and learned more about the UPS campaign kickoff–one of many in the history of UPS that has garnered commitments from employees to continue to Live United. Check out our Facebook album for some photos from the rallies last month at the Greensboro UPS hub.

High Point’s UPS employees continue to Live United, as well. Last week the High Point UPS customer service center held a “Book and Bag” fundraiser for United Way. This 100% profit fundraiser consisted of collecting hard and soft back books that were donated along with purses, duffle bags, clutches, backpacks, garment bags, briefcases, fanny packs, cross bodies, attaché cases and luggage. The gently used merchandise was either bid upon by prospective customers or priced to move! This three day event generated over $550 for United Way. Center supervisor Nicole L’Argent is proud of all the work that the center employees put into making it a successful event!
