UPDATE: NEW LOCATION ANNOUNCED!
10th Annual United Way African American Leadership Breakfast with Community Leaders
Thanks to growing community responses, we have moved this year’s event from the Hospice Lusk Center to New Zion Missionary Baptist Church (address below) to accommodate more people. As a result we are now able to accept a total of 250 RSVPs.
This year’s event will include panel presentations on the topic, “Impact of Poverty on Education”. The event will feature the following distinguished panelists:
- Tavy Fields, Principal, Wiley Elementary
- Dr. Sharon Contreras, Superintendent, Guilford County Schools
- Martha Bergman, AVP Corporate & Continuing Education, GTCC
- Rashard Jones, Project Director, African American Male Initiative
Those in attendance will have the opportunity to engage in dialogue and also participate in an open Q&A, with a goal of producing solutions that help reduce the impact poverty has on education and our community.
Attendees are encouraged to bring new, or gently used, coats, socks, gloves and warm hats that will be donated to local children and youth.
