Legacy Society & Planned Giving

The Legacy Society exists to recognize loyal contributors who are planning for gifts today to the United Way that will provide significant benefits to our community in the future.

United Way's endowment efforts unofficially began in the 1950's with generous gifts from Cone family members. Over the years, it has grown to its current total value of approximately $4 million dollars.

The United Way's goal is to have in place a permanent endowment of $21,000,000 by 2015 invested locally for the community betterment. A formal effort will commence in 2009 providing special recognition to those who participate in the inauguration of this effort. Gifts to the effort may take the form of bequests, charitable remainder trusts gifts in life insurance, outright endowments gifts, or one of the other types of chairtable planned gifts.
