Matching Grants

The Matching Grant is an occasion for individuals to increase their gifts to meet the ever increasing needs in our community. The contributing companies who make this opportunity possible inspire and motivate givers to increase their contribution and leverage more dollars to impact our community's needs.

The Matching Grant opportunity raised over $1,075,000. Approximately $200,000 was generated in matching grant funds while $875,000 was raised from individuals making personal pledge increases.

Any donor that increased their annual contribution by $1,000-$2,500 or more participated in the matching grant opportunity.

Tocqueville Society Challenge Match Opportunity

A Tocqueville Challenge Match is available to match a gift of $5,000 or more to help donors become members of the Tocqueville Society or Tocqueville Women's Leadership. Whether someone is a first-time donor or looking to step up to the $10,000 level, anyone can take advantage of this generous program.

The program can be a two or three year commitment and is outlined below. In the first year, a personal commitment of $5,000 or more to United Way makes a donor eligible to receive a match to immediately become a Tocqueville Society member. By accepting match money, the donor agrees to pledge the full $10,000 over the following years.

United Way of Greater Greensboro has received generous donations from individuals and foundations to support this program.
