United Way is our community's leader in caring. Your gift, combined with the donations of almost 40,000 of your friends and neighbors, reaches out to care for one in three people in our community.
United Way goes beyond quick fixes to deliver real, lasting change -- in people's lives -- in our community.
In 2006, United Way demonstrated leadership and caring by:
- Implementing the emergency recovery plan
- Elevating public awareness of Thriving at Three
- Leading the effort to end chronic homelessness
In 2007, United Way is continuing to provide leadership and caring by:
- Developing a future disaster emergency recovery plan following the resettlement of Huricane Katrina victims
- Launching a Thriving at Three comprehensive community resource website enabling growth and developmental success of all children by age three www.thrivingat3.org.
- Leading county-wide efforts to develop a plan to end chronic homelessness
The needs are great, but through United Way, real progress is made every day. With your help, more of our kids will be successful, more people will receive the help they need to help themselves and more people will receive the health care they need.
