Our Focus: Income Stability

Many of our neighbors are walking a financial tightrope. United Way of Greater Greensboro helps to broaden that tightrope into a path, making it less likely that people will fall. The work United Way does to increase financial stability and self-sufficiency has benefits that ripple throughout our entire community. United Way invests in programs that help people who need support now to overcome the economic downturn and deal with other emergencies. At the same time, United Way is a leader in developing long-term community solutions.

We provide immediate relief and transitional aid that allows individuals in need to resume or improve self-sufficiency through:

  • Family Service of the Piedmont's Victim Services
  • The Salvation Army of Greensboro's Center of Hope Crisis Assistance Program

We increase the capacity of individuals and families to deal with difficult life situations through:

  • Adult Center for Enrichment's CarePartners Program
  • The Arc of Greensboro's Community Education & Support Program
  • Family Service of the Piedmont's Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Greater Greensboro
  • Legal Aid of North Carolina's Domestic Unit
  • One Step Further's Community Service-Restitution Program
  • One Step Further's Mediation Services
  • One Step Further's Sentencing Services
  • One Step Further's Teen Court-Life Skills Program
  • Women's Resource Center's Legal Information Access Program
  • Women's Resource Center's New Choices Program

We reduce barriers to the use of community services through:
