Beloved Hollywood Actor Ernie Hudson to be Keynote Speaker at United Way’s Community Speakers Series

Greensboro, NC (March 19, 2019) – United Way of Greater Greensboro is welcoming Erine Hudson, one of the most sought-after actors of our time, as this year’s keynote for the 2019 Community Speaker Series at the Joseph S. Koury Convention Center on Monday, May 20, 11:00 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Hudson has an impressive, diverse body of work including Ghostbusters 1 and 2, Netflix’s Grace and Frankie, HBO’s award-winning series Oz, the acclaimed movie The Crow, Miss Congeniality 1 and 2, and currently, is the lead character in The Family Business which airs on BET Networks.

At United Way’s event, Hudson will share his amazing personal story of overcoming odds and adversity.

Born into poverty in the housing projects of Benton Harbor, Michigan, Hudson grew up during a time where civil rights had a long road ahead. Odds were more in favor of Hudson spending a life in prison than experiencing a successful career in Hollywood.

The wisdom Hudson gained before his Hollywood days allows him to relate to struggling individuals and communities. He understands the challenges of overcoming seemingly insurmountable problems and inspires others to always persevere.

Ernie will share the secrets of how to get out of the box of limitation and land dream roles, not just on the stage or screen, but roles important to everyday life.

United Way of Greater Greensboro’s Community Speaker Series convenes people from across our community to learn together, connect with one another, and be inspired while supporting the work of United Way. United Way’s African American Leadership is hosting this year’s event. Tickets are on sale and can be purchased at www.UnitedWayGSO.org/SpeakerSeries.
