[Greensboro, NC] — United Way of Greater Greensboro is proud to celebrate Cone Health and Electric Supply & Equipment (ES&E) as recipients of the 2025 Spirit of North Carolina Awards, presented annually by United Way of North Carolina to recognize outstanding community leadership, partnership, volunteerism, and commitment to creating long-term impact across North Carolina communities.
Cone Health was recognized in the Intentional Inclusion category for its organizational commitment to expanding opportunity, improving community well-being, and removing barriers that impact long-term stability for individuals and families. Through initiatives such as the Cone Health CMA Academy, school-based health partnerships, and community-centered collaborations led by the Cone Health Center for Health Equity, Cone Health continues to invest in pathways that support healthier and more connected communities.
ES&E received recognition in the Sustainability Through Engagement category for its strong culture of service and community engagement. Through employee-led volunteerism, donation drives, and long-standing partnerships with local organizations, ES&E continues to demonstrate how businesses can play an active role in strengthening the community while encouraging employees to give back in meaningful ways.
“Cone Health and ES&E represent the kind of leadership that helps communities move forward,” said Frank McCain. “Their commitment goes beyond philanthropy. They continue to show what’s possible when organizations invest in people, work alongside community partners, and stay committed to creating long-term opportunity and stability.”
The Spirit of North Carolina Awards honor organizations and individuals whose efforts exemplify the spirit of service, collaboration, and community impact. Award recipients are nominated by local United Ways across the state and recognized for their leadership in strengthening communities through philanthropy, volunteerism, advocacy, and partnership.
