2024-25 ANNUAL REPORT 15
PARTNERSHIPS
FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH: A bicentennial gift
with lasting local impact
In celebration of its 200th anniversary, First
Presbyterian Church of Greensboro launched a $10
million capital campaign. In keeping with the theme,
“Rooted and Reaching in Christ’s Love,” the church
dedicated a portion of the campaign to benefit the
community, including a $240,000 gift to United
Way of Greater Greensboro.
“The work of the United Way’s Family Success
Centers align with what we believe,” said Rev. Dr.
Jill Duffield, senior pastor. “Lives are transformed
through Christ’s love. That love inspired this gift
from our members.”
United Way and Habitat for Humanity were
selected as recipients of campaign gifts, reflecting
shared values and a collective commitment to
strengthening families and expanding access to
stability and opportunity. This investment marks
the beginning of a meaningful and mission-aligned
partnership between United Way and the faith
community; one grounded in service, stewardship,
and lasting impact.

THE BRYAN FOUNDATION: A decade of leadership
For ten consecutive years, The Bryan Foundation
has invested $300,000 annually in United Way of
Greater Greensboro — a commitment rooted in the
Foundation’s enduring belief in strengthening the
Greensboro community.
As our largest consistently supporting foundation
partner, this sustained investment reflects trust
in our strategy, our partnerships, and our long-
term vision for economic mobility and community
stability.
Following the close of this reporting year, our
community mourned the passing of Jim Melvin,
whose leadership as a former United Way
Campaign Chair and President of The Bryan
Foundation strengthened both organizations in
lasting ways. We remain grateful for his friendship
and the legacy of partnership he leaves behind.
The Bryan Foundation continues its leadership
under President Ed Kitchen, ensuring this
investment in Greensboro’s future endures.
