UNITED WAY OF GREATER GREENSBORO OPENS 2026–27 GRANT CYCLE TO STRENGTHEN PARTNERSHIPS AND ADVANCE A THRIVING COMMUNITY
GREENSBORO, NC — United Way of Greater Greensboro (UWGG) has opened its 2026–27 grant cycle, inviting local nonprofits to apply for funding that helps families overcome poverty and build lasting stability.
Across Greensboro, many families work hard yet still struggle to meet basic needs. Parents often juggle multiple jobs, stretch meals, or make difficult choices to keep their households afloat. At the same time, when families have access to the right support — from childcare to job training to financial coaching — they are able to take meaningful steps toward stability and long-term success. These dual realities reflect both the challenges facing our community and the hopeful progress made possible through strong nonprofit partnerships.
These community realities are exactly why UWGG invests in programs that remove barriers, expand opportunity, and support long-term success. This year’s funding opportunities align with UWGG’s BOLD Goal and United Way Worldwide’s global impact pillars — Youth Opportunity, Financial Security, and Healthy Communities — and reflect UWGG’s mission to end poverty and create a thriving Greensboro where every person has the chance to succeed.
“Our partners show up day after day with compassion and determination,” said Traci McLemore, Chief Community Impact Officer at UWGG. “These investments strengthen their ability to support families as they work toward stability, confidence, and long-term success. When we come together as a community, meaningful progress becomes possible.”
Required Grant Seeker Meetings: December 16 and 17
Organizations interested in applying must attend a Grant Seeker Meeting, where UWGG will review funding priorities, eligibility, and application steps. These sessions ensure that applicants have clear guidance and are equipped to design strong proposals that support community progress.
2026–27 Grant Opportunities
UWGG’s investment strategy includes two pathways for nonprofit agencies, each designed to meet critical needs while supporting long-term opportunity:
- Bold Goal Grants — for programs helping families increase income and progress beyond the Federal Poverty Level
- Community Impact Grants — for programs advancing youth opportunity, financial security, and community health
By supporting work across these areas, UWGG invests in both short-term solutions and long-term pathways that help families move from crisis to stability to thriving.

Building a Stronger, More Connected Greensboro
“Behind every program is a person or family working hard to build a better future,” McLemore added. “We’re grateful for the nonprofits who walk alongside them, offering encouragement and practical support. Our role is to help make that work a little easier — because hope grows when a community stands together.”
